In your handbag...

I like cosy places, nice and warm, to sleep in and when this floral number is waiting to be taken out, I

do like to go in there....it is just the right width and height to hide in, not only for a sleep but maybe for a trip out?? Wouldn't it be nice to go shopping?? Too busy you think, yeah, well, I think I'll just have a nap! But I still would like to go shopping..... Just the once??

Can't you use the door?

Really, Layla, why do you have to use the shortcut and come into the bedroom via the window and at the same time disturb me? Can't you use the door like any normal person, euuhh, cat would? Oh, as you've just come out of the litter tray,

I guess I better go and cover up your mess, as you never do ...

Like an arrow.....

Ooooh, how I love to lie on the computer, it makes a soft humming noise and is nice and warm, with the desk light providing added warmth..... A bit difficult for Ophelia I guess, she really needs to be pressing on the little buttons..... Once, she was not very happy with me, you see, there is a larger button and I pressed it! Zap, it went and the screen went black, and so did her face, not nice! I made my escape quicker than an arrow from a bow..... 

Grooming!

Need to make sure I look nice... We 've just had a reminder from the vet, soon, we will be going, I am sure! It was a nice vet last time we went, so just making sure I look my best....

Selfies

Well, as Layla's selfie was posted earlier, I needed to make sure I had one too! Took a while to get my hande on the phone, but finally, when Ophelia stopped crafting, I managed to sneak one in! So there, this is my - no make up - selfie! Just like them ones at the awards! Miaaauuuww! Wink wink!

I have been waiting on your bed all evening for us to have a cuddle before bed! Big hugs and sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite! Btw, don't worry about setting the alarm, I'll wake you!

It is just not good enough!

You forgot to post a blog yesterday??? You are joking, no? How could you? Well, it is just not good enough, I know you were busy yesterday, all weekend in fact, but really, .... Forgetting to write about us??? You will have to make it up you know.... Cuddles, a good brush and oh, yes, what about refreshing the granules in the litter tray.... That would be nice.... Ah, you already did that yesterday, while you were cleaning? Ok then..... I'll go and check it out now!

Yawn!

Taking a picture like this requires patience, a lot of waiting around with the finger on the button, and keeping the interest.... This is a nice basket and as soon as it was emptied out, I got into it, didn't quite know what to do at first, sit, sleep or lie down, and after a while I got sooooo tired, and when I yawned, there she was, taking my picture again, she must have the patience of cat, I tell you.....

Just making sure you don' t fall out

I know I should really be in my bed, and I can see it from here, but honestly, I think I should sleep next to you, to make sure you don't fall out of bed! 

Work hard Sleep hard

I really like spending time with Ophelia, next to her computer, making sure she is doing her work, but unfortunately, she sometimes gets tired and then she uses me as her pillow, would you believe it??? It is ok to start with, but it gets really heavy after a while, and really, honestly, I am not a pillow! She is to me, mind you, it is lovely to sleep on her in the night in bed, or to lie on her lap in the sofa, but honestly, the other way round, I don't think so! Anyway, I got Layla to take this picture as proof, should I send it to her boss, you think??

And your ears pricked, of course

Asleep with one eye open is all very well, but it is hearing the creature approaching from a distance that is the trick to being one step ahead of them so to speak......

When I am asleep, I still want to keep an eye out, so best thing is to sleep with one eye open! If you want to hang on to those nine lives as long as possible you must always be vigilant, be aware of your surroundings, just in case some creature sneaks up on you when you least expect it! Oh, nooo, here she is with her camera again......well, I did spot her, see ..... it works!

Creatures of habit

They say people are creatures of habit, but what about animals, more in particular us, cats? We enjoy having our routine, our daily doings, our habits, and we try to always stick to them. Sleep all morning on or near the computer, have a wash and sleep some more,  run around a bit and then eat and drink some, if the yellow hoover machine comes out, hide under the bed, if ophelia starts cooking, sit in the corner on the counter, if she has a shower, check up on her..... Weekends are confusing, there is no alarm and so I wake her up, mustn't upset the routine.....  And so today is Monday again, same old same old.....

What's in a name?

We are Ray and Layla, and we have told you about our names, but, hey keep reading.... You know we talk about Ophelia, well that is our human, we really like her, and she really likes Shakespeare, and Hamlet, well maybe not in that order, but Hamlet you see is her Forever-Friend, they even wear rings now, only recently, mind you.... Anyway, Ophelia is not her real name, it is Anja Thys, and if you look her up on a button next to here you can read all about her profile on Google+! But we'll just keep calling her her not real name. And Hamlet, well that is not his real name either, but hey, we are not going to spill the beans.....

The grass is always greener outside

Really, you must be joking? We are not allowed outside, Ophelia is very protective of us. And although the idea to go outside seems appealing, it is a scary world out there and anyway, our food and drink is here, even our litter tray! 

This picture was taken in our house in Belgium, we moved last summer! We used to live in the middle of a country and now we live by the sea!

Spot the cat.

Let's play a game. Try and find me.... I like small places, like boxes, not too enamoured with shelves, but if it is warm and cosy maybe.... I also like drawers, but here in the craft room there is a nice spot....and it is almost in a box, not quite though, don't know what the label says, hopefully nothing too precious! Aaah, she's found me! And the camera too! Better turn round for my nap!

I want your attention!

Layla has been sleeping all day, and she won't play with me! Can you play with me please? I will be your Forever-Friend if you do! And a brush would be nice too! And then I'll help you type some more! Deal?

Friendly visitors quick as lightning!

When Sylvester, our neighbour's cat comes to visit, we don't really see eye to eye. He tries to come in the house, but really, Sylvester, do you think that is a good idea? I personally would not mind, but i don't think Layla would be so pleased, and what would Ophelia say, like the one time last summer when you made it all the way to the sitting room and you gave her a real fright! You were out the door quick as lightning, must have broken some speed records there! Luckily we were asleep!

A box is a box is a box.....

This box really I think is going in the bin, but don't you think it is the perfect size for my new bed? I love boxes for sleeping in, so nice and cosy, warm all round! But unfortunately after the painting weekend Ophelia has gotten it in her head that cleaning and clearing out needs to happen, hence this box will be going in the bin..... If only I could convince her, maybe I will just stay here a bit longer?

What is a good box....

This was a good box, a bit small really,  but nice and sturdy! This was taken in our house in Belgium. Remember I said that we moved, well last year in June, on the hottest day no less, we moved from Belgium to the UK. It was quite an undertaking I can tell you, I was there! But all of a sudden, people around us spoke a different language, very confusing for us cats! But Ophelia is good she still speaks the same language: lots of cuddles, food and brush sessions, aahhh!

Are spent watching TV in front of the fire, just relaxing after a hard weekend's painting......

Just chillin'!

I am just chillin' on this beautiful sunny spring-like Saturday while they are painting! Everything is all over the place, the pots and pans are in the office, the shelving unit in the alley, and our food is in the sitting room! Luckily it doesn't involve moving the litter tray ..... Well i hope it doesn't, always an inconvenience when you have to start looking for it at times when the need is high! Anyway, I'll just chill here, stay out of the way of paint (I really don't want my coat or paws to end up another colour!) and enjoy a lazy day while they paint!

Interview with Layla, the ragdol ....

And here we are with the interview we conducted with Layla, who lives in the same household as Ray.

Good morning, miss, what is your name? My name is Layla Thys, I did not always used to be called Layla, but I quite like it! Better than my last name, in fact!
When were you born? I was born on 29 September 2009, which makes me older than Ray, not that that gives me the upper hand though!
Where were you born? Well I don't really know I presume I was born in Belgium somewhere, and I ended up in a family that I didn't like very much at all! You could say I am a rescue cat! One day Ophelia picked me up and took me home with her, I was utterly depressed and unhappy, and just slept all day, I was very thin.... after a while with her and Ray, I felt so much better..... It still gives me the shivers to think about the other place, soo many pets, 5 cats, two dogs, a bird, a rabbit, one of those gerbil things in a cage, not to mention the 4 kids, shrieking at me all day, and every time I got to the food bowl there was nothing left, so needless to say, when I saw the abundance of food at Ophelia's I was in heaven!
Who are your parents? Well no information was supplied when Ophelia rescued me, but I am a blue mitted ragdol.

Interview with Ray, the Brtitish Shorthair

Good morning Sir, what is your name?
My name is Ray Thys, Ray from Ray of Sunshine, yes, funny where the owners get your name from sometimes, but my birth name was Cane, yes so much more sensible
When were you born?
I was born on 7 Dec 2009, out of a litter of 7. Actually, I was one of four identical ones! Just imagine, there are another three of me out there somewhere!
Where were you born?
I was born in Hechtel, Belgium, and now live in Exmouth, UK. Long story, will tell you another time......
Who are your parents?
Well, my father is an international champion, or so I am told, his name is Keno Mastorianni, and my mother was a blue cream BSH and her name is Amy Van De Rinkeldekinkel! Such names, well actually, Ray of Sunshine doesn't sound so bad after all.

Another drawer, another nap ....

When Ophelia is having one of her cooking sessions it is always good to stay close, she is bound to leave a cupboard open and I love investigating the contents, also nice to walk through any spilt flour, she'll have a go at me then, more cleaning up to do I guess..... What is also nice, hey wait....do I spot an open drawer, so tired now, let me see, can I have a nap here, ooohh, so cosy. Sleep well 💤😴💤

No outfit is complete without cat hair!

Some women will go through great lenghts to step out the door looking immaculate, I have given up brushing the cat hairs off my outfit, it is an endless battle that cannot be won, they grow the hairs, it is a never ending battle. I read this the other day, no outfit is complete without cat hair on it! So true!and if your cat is as gorgeous as mine, well, you wouldn't mind either.....
